I feel you. I deleted my FB account in 2013 and haven’t felt better. It’s a truly mindless platform from an end user standpoint.

It is a social experiment on a scale unlike anything our world has seen… And I don’t think it contributes much positive to humanity.

OMG this is so timely and on point for me. Deadly accurate. I’m administering to 10,000 people in Facebook groups and it is robbing me of time while filling me with dopamine which makes me think I’m being productive. Ugh. Even bringing on three moderators hasn’t given me much if any relief. I see I have tons of work to do and shifts to make. Mark Z. is an evil genius…emphasis on evil!! I appreciate this vid.

Glad you like this one… I have a couple other groups from way back that I inherited or setup and forgot about and when they hit that 10k mark they seem to become super challenging to moderate and manage and they attract a crazy amount of spam and B.S.

Hey Miles, sucks that you don’t have the group anymore but I totally get it! I just wanted to say thank you for creating that group kept me super accountable and I’m so grateful to have been in there for 59 day. I’m 59 days into publishing and I will continue with the challenge but just wanted to say thanks for the time you did commit – just know that it was appreciated! Also, let me know about your paid community…I’ll sign up immediately!

I’m sure I’ll see you here around the comments and if I do launch a membership, you will hear about it. But I have soooooo many things on my plate with my main business I’m excited to work on I just don’t see when I’d have time for that.

    I understand completely!!
Still had a question about YouTube if u have time.

    I emailed u as well.

I posted a video outside my niche, it has 1.3 million views. Totally disrupted my niche and affected who I am shown to 🙁

Do I delete that vid? Do I post more vids like that? Make another channel?
    Thanks brother!

That is crazy… My video walk around of my Jeep was pretty much my most viral video ever, lol. The one video of my Jeep.

So it was something about kids stuff, right? No matter what you do, the consistency with your normal content will continue to show the YT algo what you are relevant to.

If you think it would be fun to make more of those, definitely setup a new channel and do it… But kids videos are tough to monetize beyond ads and ads don’t pay well.

If it would be a distraction from your main focus, eliminate it… meaning don’t do another channel… But you could leave the video to see where it goes.

I don’t think it will ‘hurt’ you in a major way long term… It will skew your numbers, but whatever…

And if you are losing sleep over it, delete it and re publish it on a new channel to get your focus back.

Imagine your opponent getting into your head in a JuJitsu match… That is a game ender and a match ender, right?

Seems like maybe this vid has gotten into your head a bit… So find a way to compare it to your ‘world’ of JuJitsu and let your training and discipline and intuition guide you.

There is no wrong approach but some may slow you down or weigh on you more than others.

Just to add a tiny bit – kids videos is tough to monetize with adsense too due to all that adpocalypse stuff going on. They are the first to get demonetized.

I’ve been pondering this fb group thing for a couple years. I agree 100%. Only thing I can come up with is using Disqus or a forum plugin for my business site. Awesome video Miles. btw I went to Chabot College in early 90’s. Learned GW Basic and lived at the San Leandro Racquet Club. Commuted down Hesperian. Keep us updated on a great discussion platform!

      Another Chabot alum?!?!?! 😀 YES!

We are considering moving my wife’s big paid group off FB too and are weighing options now. Ning or a stand alone social network is one option… Buddypress on WP or even a full on forum.

For me a forum wins for organization and ease of use… And my audience is more tech savvy than Melanie’s. For Melanie’s audience something like a Ning social network may be best.

Not high on the priority list yet, but we are pondering it too.

Hey Miles, thanks again. I feel like every time I get a notification of one of your new videos I have a new question. Why did you go with your name for your page and your site URL? I thought about switching from Psychology NW to my name but that may confuse the 100 or so people who are already subscribed to me. If there is a reason I would still consider switching but I am in the middle at this point. Would love your feedback!

It gives me the most freedom moving forward… If I wanted to start talking more about wealth creation and investing, I just start talking about it… If I build a race car and start competitively racing and want to document it, I just do it…

If you want to make a switch, just start with building your audience up to it. You won’t surprise or confuse them by just suddenly changing all your branding (and let’s be honest: you’ll still confuse some, and the people who weren’t paying attention to your build up).

And like Miles said, it gives you many more options for the future.

Miles if you are into blockchain technology you should consider putting your content on steemit, or dtube. Its a decentralized social media platform, there is a great community. You would do great.

When either platform reaches something close to YouTube’s 1,000,000,000 monthly active users, I’ll consider it. I publish here because my audience is here searching for answers… From my outside perspective, Steemit seems to be filled with people hoping to engage and earn tokens…

Hello Miles, newbie here. I love your comment about people spending time on FB groups spending time talking about what to do, instead of doing. So right. I have just started FBA on AZ but I wish to also expand to my own online site and utilize funnels. I am looking to go with those physical products I already sell. Can you or someone else on here lead me to your YouTube videos about using a funnel for physical profits.

    Wow!!

I’ve been feeling the same way… I am so much more focused outside of FB and just creating content…

I’m going to be testing ‘community’ aspect using the discussion panel on thinkific… if I don’t get the results I’m looking for then I will drop trying to create a community outside of YouTube…

Facebook has some value but you’re right.. it’s definitely designed to keep you addicted to the platform…

Miles do you do any straight up Google PPC instead of FB ads?

I’m 100% with you on your views about FB as a platform.

I’m totally a believer in the long term investment in organic traffic too… I’ve had 3 inquiries and closed sales in just a few days from being found on YouTube and google. It takes a lot of patience and determination but it does pay off… I really appreciate your videos… they are confirming so much of what I’ve been feeling and thinking! You rock Miles!

Hi Miles! Never liked FB and not crazy about Instagram either because it’s the same company except for the yoga and internal martial arts (Tai Chi, Bagua, Xing Yi community.) on Instagram. Patreon? I would pay $10-20 a month to get your inner circle guidance!

I keep going back to the thought of a forum so all conversations can remain public so new people who have the same questions as the old-heads can just search through those old conversations to ‘catch up’ without having to reiterate the same answer repeatedly!

More of a bandwidth and desire thing than a platform… I’m really excited to double down on my wife and my main business and want to apply my time there.

That’s great! All i ask is that it is thoroughly indexed and maybe it’s a good idea to take old threads out that are too old like when I’m directed to a thread that is from 2011 I almost don’t want to read it because I can’t believe it’s topical.

Accessed yes I would just like to go on holiday and meet all my new Facebook friends and no work done whatsoever. Except no I have to make a new part of my website. Before I can do content creation again. Because I have to blend my vision for my online business with how everyone is marketing and promoting stars at the moment where they have invited me to develop my website into the same paridium, as they are doing to sell ticketing to events to be exact. I have to find a developer to help me build this at nearly 0 cost. Thanks for your just consolidate this better angle. Great.

Great decision and thanks for sharing. I agree with you 100% re. FB. I’ve been spending less and less time on FB and I’m currently deciding how to use it as little as possible and as efficiently as possible.

I’m also doubling down spending more time building fewer and deeper relationship with specific individuals and spending time with people in person and being fully present, which is why I created a video about “The Beauty of Physical Human Connection” 🙂

I’d be interested to know what would be a more suitable uncluttered platform to facilitate community, connection and accountability. For the 90 Day Challenge that I started with a group, I used a Google Spreadsheet for accountability and a FB chat for interacting, but both of those ended up not working well. There was a lack of commitment and too much noise being created. It’s all about taking action, not getting distracted. It’s an interesting discussion re. what forum to use and paid vs free.

Love that, Sean! Do you use Slack? Could add a private channel there for people… Do you use a project management platform like FreedCamp? Could set up a ‘wall’ there to discuss.
