Imperfect Action – Being A Perfectionist Is Killing Your Growth! Imperfect Action Is The Solution

Curious what the difference between successful and unsuccessful people are? This one trait is the most common success trait for online business owners and Internet entrepreneurs.

The hesitation to put out work product that isn't perfect is the enemy to growing a business online.

Your willingness to take imperfect action is key to helping you grow into a successful entrepreneur.

In this video I cover several real-world examples of how imperfect action often leads to amazingly positive results. Both in my business and my wife's business… But also in some real-world examples outside the world of online business.

This truth is more than just a marketing truth or a proven business philosophy. This is true in every aspect of life and winners get this… Losers don't.

In my example of the airplanes and the rockets being off course for 99% of the time, here is the source of that information… A Brian Tracy-based idea that I've integrated :

The science of personal achievement is quite simple. But most people make it feel like more work and more is required. When you are comfortable with the fact that simply taking action, weather is perfect or imperfect… And continuing to take said action day in and day out, year in and year out… That is the ultimate path to success.

Your path will continue to appear for you over time. And what you initially think is going to be your successful direction, often turns out to be just a starting point in the business that you achieve success with is usually different than what you start.

This has been true in both my wife's business and my business… And I've spoken with so many other entrepreneurs who believe the same truth!

So if you haven't already started taking imperfect action, now is your time!

I recommend doing a 90 day challenge where you create one piece of content and publish it every day for 90 days… It doesn't matter if this is a video on YouTube, a post on your WordPress blog, or a podcast episode.

Find the media that is most fun and easiest for you to produce content on… Start there!

You will adapt, the business model will change, and as long as you continue taking imperfect action forward… You will achieve success!

Crutch words are words people use when they don’t exactly know what to say next… Often times people will say “umm” or “uhhh” … Sometimes in the younger demographic you will hear them say “like” over and over and over in a single conversation. Those are crutch words and they’re not good for public speaking, broadcasting, etc. For me right now, I’m saying the word “right?” Way too much… It’s an attempt to affirm that your tracking what I’m saying, but when I use it for five or 10 times in a video it can become annoying. The only way to start to change the habit is to be observant of it first and then consciously choosing other words or silence as appropriate

Fantastic encouraging video. Thank you for the wisdom and call to get it done and not get hung up on perfection.

thanks miles for this video. perfectionism is my BIGGEST challenge. even though i know that it is killing my progress and i am really aware of the all the knowledge about the importance of imperfect action… I JUST CANT DO IT 🙂 it is so deeply wired in me… i cant do it… when something feels “unfinished”, when i get the feeling that there is anything, even just a tiny thing, that i coulda done better, i have to do it… i cant put it out without doing it. i dont know why it is impossible for me… so to get out of that, would you say you can “learn” that? so just “force” yourself to take small imperfect action over and over again and get used to it? same as if you have issues talking to girls, you just do it over and over again and it becomes easier and easier?

Tough spot Fabian! Not the pro here but yes it is a learned habit. That is the point of a 90 day commitment to putting (#&_* out! On the other side of that is viewing the situation from a stoics perspective. Regurgitated from a Tim Ferris talk, not my own studying. Fear setting instead of goal setting. 3 steps. Define worst case scenarios if you take the action. What can you do to alleviate those worst case scenarios. And if a worst case scenario happens what could you do to repair the situation. One other way to view it, if it is something that can benefit 11 people or 1,100 people you are being selfishly arrogant to not share it. In it with you, I have the same struggle, we all do which is likely Miles motivation in making this vid. To push us forward.

Thanks Miles, It feels as if you made this video specially for me. Just today I started driving traffic to my explainer video website (which was also thanks to your marketing arbitrage videos) I wasn’t even sure about how i would go about it, but I figure I’ll learn as I press forward. Thanks for putting out such an amazing content.👍

I was looking for perfection all this year. When I was writing emails, building funnels, everything and it not only killed growth but also time. In fact I lost one client because of it. He was happy with my service but I was too slow. For my business I built 5 funnels till now in last 3 months. And all failed. I wasted too much time for perfection but it didn’t work. But after watching miles affiliate marketing video series. I decided to speed up the process and build a funnel, and now I am 4 days in. Today I am gonna edit my TYP Value Video (miles suggest 90 sec to 3 minutes). And launch it. Even it doesn’t work. I will build another funnel following Miles advice on Niche research, customer avatar, audience research etc, and try to launch it in 3 days. And then 2 days… Imperfect action is the name of the game. Thanks Miles for everything 🙂
